I have always enjoyed the series of books by Julian May. The first series was called The Saga Of The Pliocene Exiles. The second series was simply the Galactic Milieu Trilogy. There are another two books called Intervention and The Surveillance which are a vinculum between both series. They are sweeping tales covering events 6 million years ago then the rise of Homo Superior in contemporary times. There are a number of races of exotics, a fine host of characters, tension, drama, tears, a rollicking good adventure with high morals and debauchery.
The series never has had fan art done that I can find. There are a number of cover arts but no fan art. I always thought these books would make great graphic novels. So I thought I would give it a go myself. Have been sketching and character concepting for a while now. Some exotic species have been a number of sketches over the decades. The humans will be done as they appear in the books.
Both tales are so fantastic that I have no idea where to start. So many characters, six species of intelligent exotics, plenty of humans and animals from the Pliocene epoch. Ancient earth and future telepaths in space. Its a challenge. So I am rereading the vinculums and sketching as I go and seem to be going backwards and forwards between sagas as the urge takes me. Once characters start getting sorted am going to try to put them together in a graphic novel.
The only problem is that she is such a rich writer that each chapter is over flowing with imagery. Each chapter could be a full comic in itself. Anyway, nice to meet everybody. Sketches and drawings etcetera to follow. PEACE!
